About
Earth Positive
Our Story
In 2007, Earth Positive® was launched to prove that it is possible to produce cotton clothing without any detrimental effects to the Earth's soil, water or inhabitants, whether they be animals, plants or people, or to its climate.
From the launch onwards, Earth Positive® reduced the carbon footprint of its cotton clothing by 90%, while also producing all garments in an ethical and sustainable manner.
Sustainable manufacturing
Earth Positive® manufactures products with minimal negative impact on the environment.
Starting with the sourcing of raw materials, Earth Positive® ensures full traceability of all fibres, choosing 100% certified organic cotton across the range. Garments are made from organic cotton that is hand-picked and grown without the use of harmful chemicals, supporting healthy soil and farmer well-being.
The factory operates using clean renewable energy, powered by wind turbines and solar panels, while water is treated and reused with zero discharge, keeping local systems free from harmful chemicals.
The overall carbon footprint is around 90% lower than that of standard clothing producers.
Yarns and fabrics
The quality of the yarns and fabrics forms the foundation for delivering high-quality garments.
Earth Positive® oversees the spinning process for nearly seventy percent of all yarns used in production as part of a vertically integrated manufacturing structure, with the remainder carefully sourced externally. All yarns are fully combed and ring spun.
All fabrics are knitted in in-house facilities and dyed using low-water processes with controlled waste discharge. These processes are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I and conform to REACH requirements.
Organic certified fabrics are dyed in a zero-discharge dyehouse, where water is recycled through a closed-loop system.
Earth Positive® is a multi-award-winning consumer brand of low carbon apparel created to help combat the climate crisis.
Carbon footprint reduction
Having taken the greenhouse gas emissions to pre-industrial levels, all the Earth Positive® products carry the registered mark “Climate Neutral”.
The carbon footprint (CO2e) is the total carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and other greenhouse gases emitted during the cultivation and harvesting of cotton, fibre processing, textile production, packaging, transportation and warehousing.
Earth Positive® does not use carbon offsets. Footprint calculations were certified by Carbon Trust in the United Kingdom between 2007 and 2009.
Earth Positive® has reduced the carbon footprint of its products by around 90% through a combination of innovative product design, low-impact organic agriculture, manufacturing efficiency, and the replacement of standard grid electricity with renewable wind power.
It has been calculated that a single Earth Positive® T-shirt saves around 7 kilograms of CO2e compared to a conventional T-shirt, while a hooded sweatshirt can save up to 28 kilograms.
“In January 2008, Earth Positive® became the first company in the world to calculate the carbon footprint and place the Carbon Reduction Label on textile products.”
Printing suitability
With a high-quality surface finish, Earth Positive® garments perform particularly well with digital direct-to-garment (DTG) printing.
All products by Earth Positive® are designed and manufactured specifically for garment decoration and, with the exception of undyed bags, are suitable for all screen-printing techniques and ink types, including discharge printing.
The use of ink types and printing processes with a low environmental impact is strongly encouraged, including phthalate-free, non-PVC, water-based formulations that are free from aromatic solvents and compliant with environmental and organic standards.
